Joe’s Obituary Dodge City – Joe R. Pate Jr., 68, died August 23, 2019 at Trinity Manor in Dodge City. He was born on April 12, 1951 in Kinsley, the son of Joe R. and Chloe (Whittle) Pate, Sr. Joe was a graduate of Dodge City High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy on June 1, 1970. He was stationed at Long Beach, California, serving on the USS Wichita. Joe was honorably discharged on March 31, 1974. He returned to Dodge City after his service. Joe went to work for Winter Livestock and later for Kate’s Bar and Grill. He is survived by five sisters, Jeannie Meeker of Wichita, Glenda Middleswart and husband Gail of Oberlin, Judy Harris, Janis Ferguson and husband Tom, and Michelle Pate all of Dodge City. Joe is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joyce Ring. An inurnment with Military Honors by the United States Navy Honor Guard and the American Legion 8th District Honor Guard will be held at Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 11:00 AM. There is no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice in care of Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
