Jana’s Obituary Jana René Johnson, 63, of Hereford passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019 in Amarillo. Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, August 23, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel with Steven Liles officiating, burial to follow at West Park Cemetery of Hereford. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Jana was born June 30, 1956 in Friona, Texas to A.W. and Betty Self. Jana has been a resident of Hereford most of her life. She married Leroy Johnson in 1994. She taught Content Mastery and Special Ed Life Skills for Hereford Independent School District for 25 years. Prior to teaching in Hereford, she taught a few years in the panhandle area. Jana was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hereford. Jana enjoyed reading, going to the movies with her daughter Alissa, gardening, baking and always being the first to volunteer to bring the basket full of goodies. Jana was a caring giver, she contributed to the Hereford community in many ways. Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Leroy Johnson of Hereford; a son Jarret May of Pueblo, CO.; a daughter Alissa Rincon and her husband Emilio of Canyon, Texas; two grandchildren Kylee and Axel Rincon of Canyon, Texas and several great nieces and nephews.
