Jim Cooke, age 76, of Hudson, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, August 26, 2019, at his residence. He was born October 19, 1942, son of the late Russell and Thelma Bumgarner Cooke. Jim was an English teacher at South Caldwell High School. He was also a baseball coach and a school bus driver. He served his church as a Sunday School teacher and a deacon. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother Harry Ray Cooke. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 44 years, Claudia Beard Cooke of the home; two sons, Preston Woods (Andrea) of Hudson and Chris Cooke of Charlotte; two daughters, Gina Myers (Andy) of Claremont and Tricia Estes (Marlon) of Wake Forest; three granddaughters, Taylor Cannon of Lenoir, Gracie Myers of Claremont, Gabrielle Woods of Hudson; one grandson Trilon Estes of Wake Forest; three brothers, Dwight Cook, Joe Cooke, and Wayne Cook all of Hudson; one sister, Edith Micol of Connelly Springs. The family will receive friends Friday, August 30, 2019, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at Center Grove Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM with Rev. Doug Howell officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
