Ivy Hayes Gibbons, age 97, Midfield, AL., went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 20, 2019. She was a member of Fairfield Highlands Baptist Church. She retired from Rutledge Jr. High School where she worked in the cafeteria and loved cooking and serving the children. Ivy was “The Rock” of our family. The most precious, loving, caring, and selfless lady and loved by all. She will be missed but remain in our hearts. She leaves us behind with precious memories of a remarkable mother and truly a Godly Woman. Ivy was preceded in death by her loving husband Kenny; mother Katie, and Father Jess Hayes; two brothers Virgil and Ernest Hayes. She is survived by her son Charles Gibbons; daughter Brenda Gibbons Chapple; three grandchildren Scott Gibbons (Glenda), Kim Reed, and Christy Peters (Bobby); and four great grandchildren Cameron, and Colin Gibbons, McKinley and Riely Peters; and numerous other loving relatives and friends. The visitation will Thursday, August 22, 2019, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM in he chapel. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers family request donations be made to Fairfield Highlands Baptist Church in her memory or Charity of Choice.
