Irene’s Obituary Mrs. Irene Nettle, 97, of Corning, AR., passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Saint Louis University Hospital in Saint Louis, MO. Mrs. Nettle was born in Corning, AR., on July 20, 1922. She was retired from Lerner’s Dress Shop where she worked as a sales clerk. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Corning, AR. She married her husband of 66 years Mr. Eurskin Nettle on August 22, 1944, he preceded her in death on July 10, 2011. She is survived by two daughters Ludena Whitehead of Bourbon, MO., Shelbie Ellison of Saint Peters, MO.; three sisters Loraine Goodway of Holt, MO., Kathryn Wilson of Hannibal, MO., Dena Payne of Poplar Bluff, MO.; five grandchildren Jenifer Whitehead, Christopher Whitehead, Jimmy Whitehead, Jr., Sarah Haag, Robert Ellison; nine great-grandchildren Michael, Krystal, Christopher James, Sierra, Jasa, Ruby, Tim, Breanna, Alexis; five great-great-grandchildren Salena, Jackson, Isaac, Abigail, Julian; and a nephew Dwayne Frakes. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents L.V. and Minnie Elvada (Johnson) Griffin; three brothers Burlin Griffin, Elzie Griffin and Sterling “Speck” Griffin. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 9, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Josh Raspberry officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Corning Cemetery.
