2019
Waynesville- Gladys Frances Lee, 85 of Waynesville passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation. Gladys (aka Memaw, Nana, and Aunt Bo) was a cornerstone in her family. She married Herbert Francis when she was 23 years old and they had three children together. At the age of 32 she left Long Island, NY, moved to Florida and never looked back. She raised her children primarily by herself and worked as many as 3 jobs at a time to support them. Gladys retired from the Palm Beach County Clerk of Courts as a Juvenile Court Room Clerk. Family was very important to her and she was always there to cheer them on both in the stands and in life. Putting it mildly, Gladys was passionate about her family and she proved that to them with every action she made. She was preceded in death by her children, Lee Ann Kendall, Timothy Francis and Steven Francis; brother, Samuel Joseph Jr.; sisters, Marjorie Walters and Mary Ann Stevens. Gladys is survived by her grandchildren, Heather (Jeremy) Myers, Kristopher (Andrea) Kendall, and Caitlin Francis; great-grandchildren, Kendall Myers, Liliana Myers, Alaina Kendall and Mark Kendall. Three short years ago, Gladys moved to North Carolina and was very content living here. She loved driving through and just gazing at the beautiful mountains. Her family will sorely miss her sense of humor and her wise advice. She will forever be in our hearts. Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Service of Clyde is honored to be caring for the family and the online register is available at www.smokymountaincremations.com.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Gladys Frances Lee 2019.
