Gilbert Eugene Robinson 1925-2019 Gilbert never was too rambunctious. He was more the humble, consummate gentleman. Through a lifetime of kind words and actions, he was a calm, calculated example of just how easy it should be to simply be a good person…all the time. Jody, the love of his life, knew it all of their years together. Although she passed over ten years ago, he never took off his wedding ring. His friends and family, especially the grandchildren, came to realize the many life lessons he left hidden-in-plain-sight. Often within conversations over blackberry cobbler, from between garden rows, during a game of ping-pong, or simply taking in the day from the porch swing. Even as he decided to hang up his hat for the last time, it was clear just how strong his magnetism was, as those around him dropped in to return some of the many hugs he had lent to them over the years. The man knew how to give a hug. Gilbert left us just weeks after his 94th birthday, on August 23, 2019. He was born in Du Quoin, Illinois and lived in Mogadore, Ohio most of his life. He graduated from St. Louis University and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was retired from Goodyear Aerospace and enjoyed spending his time gardening, making wine, and giving the best hugs in the world. Survived by his son, Spencer Robinson of Indian Land, SC; two grandchildren, Melani Robinson of Mogadore, OH and Jason Robinson of Charlotte, NC; and his dear friends, Mary and Howard Coomer of Mogadore, OH.
