Julia “Evelyne” (Abramson) Brown, 101 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at CHI Health – Good Samaritan at Kearney, Nebraska. Evelyne was born February 3, 1918 at Estherville, Iowa, the youngest of four children born to Albert and Pearl Aries (Byers) Abramson. She attended Orleans Public Schools, and graduated from Orleans High School. During high school Ev had fond memories of cheerleading. After high school, she worked at the newspaper office in Orleans. Evelyne then made her home in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she was the office manager for Remington Rand Corporation. She was then transferred with the company to Dayton, Ohio. On January 20, 1951, Evelyne was united in marriage to Malcom M. Brown at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Dayton, and she lovingly accepted Malcom’s two children as her own. Later in years, she was employed by the Dayton Public School District as their office manager. Following retirement, she and Malcom moved to Santa Barbara, California. They loved the ocean and the wonderful weather. In Santa Barbara, Ev enjoyed attending local theaters and volunteer work with local nursing homes and the Santa Barbara Art Museum. Malcom preceded her in death in 1974. Evelyne then returned to Nebraska in June 2011, and resided at Chrisoma Villa and Christian Homes until her passing. Ev loved to travel. After her husband’s passing, she and many friends went on many cruises and tours to most of the countries of the world. Her favorite country was India. She also enjoyed playing bridge, and was talented at needle work. Evelyne also enjoyed spending time with her niece, Mary and great-nephew, Mike and their families. She faithfully attended the Christian Homes Chapel, and enjoyed the friendships she made with staff and residents during her stay there. Besides her husband and parents; she was preceded in death by; brother, Leland Abramson and his wife, Velma; two sisters: Eda Abramson; and Maxine Tieperman and her husband, Edwin; two step-children: Wita and Rod Brown.
