Haupt, 71, of Salem passed away on August 12, 2019 at Avera McKennan Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls. Visitation with family present will be held on Sunday, August 18 from 2 – 4 pm at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem. Douglas Craig Haupt was born November 26, 1947 to Elmer and Doris (Schuttler) Haupt in Mitchell, SD. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1966 and then served four years in the Navy on the USS Stoddard. Doug was a Vietnam Veteran. After being discharged, Doug went on the drive truck for various companies including Wulff Trucking in Salem, SD, AME Concrete and Schluender Construction Co. in Monticello, MN and most recently A & A Trucking in Brandon, SD. In 2016, Doug retired and moved back to Salem, SD. He enjoyed fishing and loved cutting wood for his wood furnace. Doug is survived by: his son, Wade (Jenna) Haupt and newborn grandson, Steven of Rogers, MN; mother, Doris of Lennox, SD; siblings, JoAnne Fowler, Azle, TX, Linda (Don) Conway, Jacksonville, FL, Carol (Mike) Amo, Park Rapids, MN and Cory (Bonnie) Haupt, Tea, SD; and six nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and many aunts and uncles.
