Hartsville, S.C. Funeral services for Douglas Austin Neal, age 77, will be held Wednesday at 4:00 at the Rivers of Living Water Church. Burial will be in the Rivers of Living Water Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Rev. Tom Gainey will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday 5-7 pm at the Funeral Home. Mr. Neal was born in Greenville, SC a son of the late Alex and Margaret Hendricks Neal. He had worked as a master welder and later retired from the Darlington County Sheriff’s Department and then he worked at the YMCA. Doug was a diehard Clemson Fan and he was a member of Rivers of Living Water Church. Surviving are his wife, Alene Hatfield Neal, Hartsville; his step father, David Cox, Simpsonville; two sons, Andy (Kristi) Jeffords, Hartsville and Derek Elrod, Carolina Beach, N.C.; three daughters, Deborah (Robin) Guinan, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Denise (Robin) Suther, Charlotte and Ginger (Jim) Meshaw, Hartsville; grandchildren, Amber, Joe, Alex, David, Faith, Kate, Anastasia, Alexander, Joel, Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Cole, Flora, and Riley. Memorials may be made to the Rivers of Living Water Church, 540 Pond Hollow Road, Hartsville, S.C. 29550. Norton Funeral Home is honored to serve the Neal family.
