Doris McPherson Kenney, age 88, passed away on August 6, 2019 to be with the Lord. Doris was sweet and kind, always helping her family, friends and church. She was an amazing wife to Bob Kenney for 61 years, mother, MiMi, friend, educator and neighbor. She loved Dawson, Georgia. Doris was a lifetime active member of Dawson First Baptist where she served on the hospitality committee for years. She was an educator for over 40 years, making a difference for so many students. Doris was a member of the Old Herod Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was recognized as a Meadow Garden Patron. Doris was also active in the Terrell County Retired Educators and a ladies bridge club. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, John Bunyan McPherson and Wilda Reid McPherson; her husband, Bob Kenney; sister, Betty Spilman; and brother, Bunyan McPherson. Doris is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathie and Tony Rigsby; granddaughters, Amy Henry (Brad) and Eva Jones (Trey); great-grandchildren, Andrew Tabb, Blakelee Jones and Reid Henry; sister-in-law, Jane McPherson; caregiver, Eddie White and many friends. A visitation will be held at Harvey Funeral Home on Thursday, August 8, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The funeral is planned for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2019 at Harvey Funeral Chapel. Rev. Horace Keen will officiate.
