Donnie Joe Clemons age 75 passed away Sunday August 11, 2019 at the VA Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Mr. Clemons was born September 12, 1943 in Arab, Alabama the son of Gilmer and Idell Hughes Clemons. He graduated from Arab High School in 1961 and studied at Calhoun Community College. He served in the United States Army from 1965-67 and spent one year in Vietnam. He lived in Atlanta, Georgia as a young man and worked at Lockheed. He spent most of his professional career as an electronics troubleshooter at Chrysler in Hunstville. Donnie lived life to its fullest from beginning to end. He enjoyed music, art, travel, politics, and good conversation. He is remembered for his quick wit, unflinching humor, and gentle kindness. He is survived by his Daughters: Laura Clemons and Cynthia Clemons Peacock (Forrest) of Tuscaloosa; Grandson: Brooks; and Sister: Jane Cox of Arab. He was preceded in death by his Parents: Gilmer and Idell Clemons; Sisters: Rebecca Woodsmall and Patricia Hornsby. Visitation will be Thursday August 15, 2019, at 1 PM at Arab Heritage Memorial Heritage Chapel. Funeral Service will be Thursday at 3PM. Donnie will be laid to rest alongside his family in Rocky Mount Cemetery directly following the service. Pallbearers will be family members, Forrest Peacock, Kevin LaRue, Roger Cox, Rodney Cox, Joshua Cox, and Rick Thrower.
