Donald, “Don” 85, passed away on August 17, 2019, the day of his 85th birthday, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. Donald was born on August 17, 1934 in Springfield and met his beloved, late wife, Mildred “Millie” (Marcinek) Sickles at the Eastern States Exposition at the age of 19. Soon after marrying the love of his life in 1955, Donald entered the armed services and served in the US Army. Donald then worked for 25 years at Monsanto Corporation in Springfield until he took early retirement to pursue Sickles Realty full time with his wife Mildred, which became a successful lifelong business and exemplification of his dedication and hard work to all those who knew him. A lifelong Boston sports fan, Donald never missed a Red Sox or Patriots game in almost 50 years. He and his wife established a beautiful home in Chatham, Cape Cod, where he kept active tending to his magnificent garden and creating the many celebrations and special memories which will always live on through his children and grandchildren. Throughout his life, Donald’s number one priority and true legacy was his love and dedication to supporting and raising his family, including spoiling his many grandchildren with extended family trips and special occasion dinners. His family will always remember him as a symbol of hard work, selfless giving, and clever humor. Donald was predeceased in 2010 by his loving wife, Mildred, and is survived by his adoring family, daughter, Donna M. Williamson and husband, Ben of Chicopee, MA; son, Garrett Sickles and wife, Pamela of Needham, MA; and his grandchildren who were the light of his life, Alexander and Victoria Williamson, and Ryan, Jessica and Zachary Sickles. Calling hours for Donald will be held Tuesday from 4:30-6:30PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 in Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front St., Chicopee. Burial with military honors in St. Stanislaus Cemetery will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
