Darrel’s Obituary Darrel Edmond Ward was born October 5, 1937 in Stella, Missouri, one of ten children to Melvin and Mamie (Gibbens) Ward. He entered into rest on August 27, 2019 at his home in Pierce City, at the age of 83 following an extended illness. Darrel graduated from Granby High School and served in the Army National Guard, July 6, 1953 – April 18, 1954. He had worked as a carpenter, laborer, foundry worker and retired from Joplin Construction as a heavy construction worker in 2013. He enjoyed traveling in their RV, fishing, hunting and camping. He was a member of the Sweetwater Baptist Church. Darrel married Pearl (Robbins) on February 13, 1954 and she preceded him in death on May 6, 1998; he then married V. Powell in 1999 and she preceded him in death on September 12, 2018. He is survived by two children, Sherry Gallowich and husband, David of Joplin and Danny Ward and wife, Cindy of Granby; two stepchildren, Joel Powell and wife, Denise of Choteau, Oklahoma and Denise Simpson and husband, Roger of Oklahoma; three brothers, Merle Ward of Joplin, J. N. Ward and wife, Ruth of Pierce City and Bob Ward and wife, Diane of Goodman; three sisters, Joyce Caruthers of Granby, Ann Hopper and husband, Paul of Goodman and Judy Pendergraft of Neosho; seventeen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and spouses, he is preceded in death by a son, Donnie Ward; a daughter, Beverly Ward and three brothers, Johnny, LeRoy and Raymond Ward. Read More
