Bobby Lee Shepard August 15, 1950 – August 24, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Bobby Lee Shepard also known as “Sam Jones” was born on August 15, 1950 to the late Margaret Dawson and Prince Hemby. He attended school in Pitt County and graduated from C.M. Eppes High School in 1969. After graduation he left for New York and attended Bronx Community College. After College he joined the United States Army and served for seventeen (17) years. While serving his country he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1991. Upon returning to North Carolina he worked for Vidant Medical Center for thirteen (13) years before retiring in 2013. He was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church until health declined. Bobby enjoyed all sports, family gatherings, church and South Greenville Gym. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents Margaret Dawson and Prince Hemby and brother Elliott. He leaves to cherish his memories, wife of 42 years Helena, son Adam, two grandsons Tyrese and Khamauri. Sisters Nina Nobles, Carrie Atkinson (Steve) of Greenville, NC, Annette Bennett, Erika Hemby of Grifton, NC; brother Melvin Brown (Evon) of New York. A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Special friends and family Rudy Shepard, Jeff Ebron, Don Ebron, Carl Ebron, Mitch Wooten and Brian Walsh.
