Arthur George Anton Rechtzigel, age 89 of Cannon Falls, died on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Cannon (Twin) Rivers Senior Living in Cannon Falls. Art was born on June 17, 1930 in St. Paul, MN, the son of Leonard F. and Ella E. (Kirchner) Rechtzigel. He attended parochial school for 6 years at St. Johns’ Rich Valley, 2 years at District 20 public school, and later attended 2 years at Rosemount High School. He married Delores Spillman on December 17, 1949 at First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, and they raised six children. He started working at Farmington Creamery, then as a bus driver for his uncles. He then worked at Armour’s in So. St. Paul until he could start his lifelong passion as a dairy farmer. Gardening, dancing and listening to polka music, along with family get-togethers, were his favorite pastimes. He is survived by his wife of over 69 years, Delores; children, Bonnie Holte of Harris, Dennis (Patty) of Red Wing, Doug (Jan) and Randy (Ann), all of Cannon Falls, and Brenda Rechtzigel (Jack Ables) of Zumbrota; daughter-in-law, Cindy of Cannon Falls; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; and brothers and sister, Glen (Jean) of Wanamingo, Paul (Sharon) of Kenyon, Jerry (Karen) of Glencoe, and Doris Burberl of St. Anthony; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ron; grandchildren, Jessi Fritz and Brock Rechtzigel; son-in-law, Fred Holte; brothers, Leonard Jr., Bob, Marv, and Jim; and sister, Shirley Molkenbur. Visitation will be on Friday, August 16 from 4-7 pm at Lundberg Funeral Home, Cannon Falls. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 17 at 11:00 am, with visitation from 10-11 am, at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 30289 – 59th Ave Way, Cannon Falls. Interment will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery. Lunch will follow at the church. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Justin, Connor, Logan, Matthew, and Nolan Rechtzigel. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, Jon Holte, Bree Smude, Angie Rechtzigel, Jenny Jandro, and Amy Samuelson. Memorials are preferred to St. Paul’s School.
