Allen Maloye “Cotton” Anderson, age 77, of Rogersville, died Sunday, August 18, 2019 at Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. He was saved on February 19, 1965 and was a member of Sarepta Baptist Church in Blackwater, Virginia. Allen faithfully attended West View Baptist Church upon moving to Rogersville, Tennessee. Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Jalie Livesay Anderson of Kyles Ford, Tennessee; sisters, Lucille Blakely, Nola Antrican, and Mary Ruth Anderson; brothers, Emory, Enoch, and Hugh Donald Anderson. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Etta Ruth Anderson; son, Mark Anderson; granddaughter, Hannah Anderson of Sevierville, Tennessee; two sisters, Edna Nix of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Evelyn (Ronald) Gillenwater of Church Hill, Tennessee; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends. A retiree of Philips Consumer Electronics, Allen enjoyed his family, traveling, gardening, and especially helping others. He never met a stranger and was able to “strike up” a conversation with anyone he met. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 22, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Christian-Sells Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow with Rev. Ray Mullins officiating and music provided by The Gospel Four. Graveside service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Hamblen Memory Gardens in Morristown, Tennessee.
