Jack Sowards, 77, of Fairborn passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2019. He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio to Johnny and Mary (Emmert) Sowards. Jack was a Mechanical Engineer at General Motors for most of his life. He also taught science and math and had his own photography business. He enjoyed telling stories and cracking jokes. Jack grew up riding motorcycles and loved the many Jeeps he owned. He enjoyed martial arts and guns and really weapons of any kind. He also loved playing volleyball and soccer and was a ruthless competitor. When babysitting his grandkids, he came prepared with a gym bag full of candy. Dad loved computers and pirating content. If you told Jack that you liked a certain TV show or musical artist, the next time you saw him he would have compiled a complete box set of all of that TV show’s seasons or the artist’s complete work from the internet. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and a stepson, Paul Sowards. He is survived by two daughters: Susan Grom of Columbus, OH and Laura Sowards of Beavercreek, OH; two stepdaughters: Jessica Washington of Loveland, Colorado and Emily (Brian) Chriswell of Kettering, OH; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles (Susan) Sowards; and twelve grandchildren who will all miss him terribly and grieve his loss forever.
