Obituary William “Bill” Sipes, of Chesapeake, VA, passed away on June 12, 2019. Bill served in the US Navy for over twenty years. Following his time in the service, Bill began a successful career as a technical writer, working for Tracor Marine in Saudi Arabia and Newport News Ship Building. In his free time, Bill loved hunting and woodworking, but especially spending time with his grandchildren. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Chester and Inez Sipes of Indiana as well as his brother Jimmy. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Linda; his children, Michael Sipes (Jennifer) ,Randall Sipes (Donna), Gerald Tillman, and Christine Harrington (Todd); nine grandsons; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and his brothers and sisters, Raymond, Ruby, Joanna, Norma, and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 20, 2019, from 6 PM to 8 PM at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, 6568 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23464. A funeral service will be held Friday, June 21, 2019, at 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Rosewood Memorial Park.
