On the evening of Thursday, June 27, 2019 while surrounded by his loved ones, Mr. Wayne Allen Young, age 64, of Nebo, North Carolina, departed to be with the Lord at his residence. A native of McDowell County, born May 27, 1955, he was the son of the late Rass Samuel and Gertrude Reece Young. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Amanda (Mandy) Wilson. An avid outdoorsman and fisherman, Allen had a special place in his heart for animals, enjoyed working with his tractors; and farming blueberries. A member of New Manna Baptist Church, he was a Sunday School teacher and he proudly served with the Bus Ministry and Jail Ministry. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Sherry Young; one daughter, Holly Arias (Marco), one son, Thomas Young (Catriona); three bonus children, Matthew McDaniel, Mark McDaniel and Luke McDaniel; four siblings, Sam Young, Margaret Ann Hollifield, Michael Young and Wayne’s twin sister, Jane Ellen. Allen is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Donavon Wilson, Haley Wilson, Hunter Wilson, Jaydan Arias, Cross Arias, Tryp Young and Sage Young; and six bonus grandchildren, Micah McDaniel, Madi McDaniel, Bryson McDaniel, Isabella McDaniel, John Michael McDaniel and Adrianne Reid; and a loving nephew, Richard Daniel Manis. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. Young will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at New Manna Baptist Church with Pastor Tony Shirley, Youth Pastor Jason Gardner and Mr. Thomas Young officiating. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
