Sebastian Anthony Scalone Korean War Veteran Beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, 87 Mr. Sebastian Anthony Scalone, 87, of Barnegat, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at Community Medical Center, Toms River. The funeral will be conducted from the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Monday, June 24 at 8:15 a.m. There will be a Funeral Mass celebrated at St. Lucy’s Church, Newark at 9:30 a.m. The interment will be at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield with military honors. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 23 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sebastian was born on May 1, 1932 and grew up on Bergen Street in Newark, NJ. He served honorably in the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War. After returning home from the war, he later married Carmella Zarra on January 23, 1955, and resided in Iselin for 53 years before moving to Barnegat 11 years ago . He was a Tool and Die maker by trade for most of his life, and was also a volunteer fireman with the Iselin Volunteer Fire Department #1 for over 30 years. He was an incredible cook and baker, the best pancake maker, the brightest and greenest thumb in the world, and lover of animals. Sebastian was a strong, proud, good man and will be missed by many who knew him. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Carmella (nee Zarra) Scalone; his four loving children: JoAnn and her husband Richard Scamorza of Jupiter, FL, Nancy and her husband Bruce Anderson of Aberdeen, NJ, Anthony and his wife Reyla Scalone of Iselin, NJ, and David and his wife Cheryl Scalone of Manahawkin, NJ; his seven cherished grandchildren: Glenn and his wife Alex, Anthony and his wife Cristina, Lisa, Erica and her husband Danny, Ashley and her husband Nick, Nicholas and Emily, and his 13 precious great-grandchildren: Antonio, Taylor, Anthony, Daniella, Mackenzie, Logan, Enzo, Isabella, Vincent, Gianna, Zoe, Sydney and soon-to-be baby Lucas. Sebastian also leaves behind his three loving sisters: Dolores Malangone of Toms River, NJ, Dorothy LaMotta of Garner, NC, and Louise (Cookie) Shea of Madison, CT, and also his many loving nieces and nephews. Sebastian is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Josephine (nee Chirico) Scalone, and his two brothers John and Joseph.
