Alley “Sam” (aka “Bobby”) , a lifelong resident of Medford, died at home, surrounded by his family on August 21, 2012. Born January 9,1947, and raised in Medford; he was the son of Samuel E. and Myrtle A. (Travis) Alley, formerly of Medford. Sam was a graduate of Medford High School, class of 1965, and forever proud of his town. He was employed as an ironworker, and was an active and enthusiastic member and past president of his union, Shopmen’s Iron Workers Union, Local 501. Sam is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Linda (Kennedy) Alley, and two adoring daughters, Holly (Alley) Halliday and Mary Alley; and also by his sister, Elizabeth Alley. Sam had many friends, some lifelong. He was fiercely loyal to those he loved, and in turn loved by many. At his request, there were no formal services, but he will always be remembered by loved ones. Donations may be made to the Jimmy fund.
