Salvador’s Obituary Salvador Tenorio Zavala passed away peacefully on May 20th, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was born to Salvador and Amalia Zavala in the beautiful city of Moroleon, in Guanajuato Mexico. His father was recruited for the Bracero program, and with that opportunity, Salvador and his siblings immigrated to the United States. After arriving in the United States at the age of 16, Salvador started out picking strawberries in the fields of Oxnard, CA. He met and married his beautiful wife, Victoria, during that time and began their family together. From 1970-1977 he picked tomato and chile for Petoseed. After a lot of hard work, he was promoted as the Mill Seed Conditioning Supervisor for Denholm Seeds in Lompoc, CA. He remained working for the seed industry with Ball Horticulture in Santa Paula, where he had the opportunity to travel to Guatemala, Chile and Costa Rica. He retired in 2018 after 45 proud years of service. He loved his work, the places he got to travel, and all the colleagues he met within that time. Sal will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was quick with a smile, and to share a laugh together. One of his proudest accomplishments was seeing his family grow and succeed. Ever the green thumb, Salvador took pride in the multiple vegetables, fruits, and lovely flowers he grew in his home garden every year. He had a huge love of life, and believed there was no greater wealth than the support and love of family. Salvador is survived by his wife, Victoria Nava Zavala, who resides in Santa Paula. His daughter, Beatriz Zavala from Orange County, his daughter Ana Fernandez from Los Angeles, and his son Salvador Zavala from Santa Paula, and his beloved grandchildren: Ellie, Santiago and Jacob. He is also survived by his six sisters Socorro, Estela, Norma, Rosa, Teresa, Lola and two brothers Raul and Ramiro, as well as multiple nieces and nephews. Read More
