ROY’s Obituary Roy Steven Metzel, 66 years old of Antioch, IL, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, IL. He was born January 3, 1953 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Bernard and Doris (nèe Rupple) Metzel. On July 2, 1988, Roy married Debra Richter in Grayslake, IL. They were members of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Antioch. Roy served his country in the United States Marine Corps and gave 26 years on the Lake County Sheriff’s Department. He was a loving father, devoted husband, and caring friend. Roy is survived by his wife, Debra; their children, Dylan Metzel, Eric Vos, Jennifer Beese, Nicholas Metzel, and Kyle Metzel; their twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his siblings, Bernard Metzel Jr., Dale Beaver, Robert Metzel, Karen (Scott) Lynn; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral Services with Military Honors will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. Antioch, IL 60002, with visitation beginning at 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
