Ronald’s Obituary Ronald M. Ulishney, 69, of Latrobe, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at UPMC East, Monroeville, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Born September 29, 1949 in Latrobe, he was a son of the late Matthew J. Ulishney and Anna (Staschak) Ulishney. Ronald was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Youngstown. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed with Penn DOT and farmed for many years around Saint Vincent. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Vietnam Era and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 982, Unity Township. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and also fishing on his boat at Prince Gallitzin. He also enjoyed vintage cars and one of his favorite pastimes was wood crafting. He will be remembered as a loving and compassionate husband, father, and grandfather that cherished spending time with his granddaughters who meant the world to him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald T. “Ronnie” Ulishney; two brothers, Eugene and Matthew Ulishney; three sisters, Elizabeth Krivoniak, Margaret Kubecki, and Dolores Mickinak; and his in-laws, Thomas and Vi Yazvec. Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Ellie (Yazvec) Ulishney of Latrobe; one son, Brandon M. Ulishney, and his wife Shannon, of Harrison City; one daughter, Gina M. Tautkus, and her husband Dave, of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Mallory and McKenzie Ulishney and Jesse Tautkus; one brother, Thomas Ulishney, and his wife Dolores, of Greensburg; one sister, Mary Ann Brant, and her husband Donald, of Latrobe; and he is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Bailey. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Arnold Palmer Pavilion, UPMC Shadyside and UPMC East for their compassionate care. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 5 and 6 to 9 PM Friday at the John J. Lopatich Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Weldon Street, Latrobe. Members of the Sacred Heart Rosary Altar Society will recite the Rosary at 1:30 PM Friday in the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 AM Saturday at Sacred Heart Church, Youngstown, with the Rev. James Podlesny, O.S.B. as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery with military rites accorded by the VFW Post No. 33, Greensburg.
