Thiering, 76, of Davenport, will be 10:30 am on Monday, at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport. Family will greet friends on Sunday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the mortuary. Cunnick – Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements. Ronald passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Ronald William Thiering was born on April 30, 1943 in Davenport, the son of Walter and Myra (Holcomb) Thiering. He married Sharon Squires on September 24, 1961 in Davenport. She preceded him in death on March 4, 2015. He worked as a firefighter for the Eldridge and Davenport Fire Dept and also served as Captain Fire Marshall for Davenport. He served as Fire Chief for the Bettendorf Fire Dept and the Basalt Fire Dept in Basalt, CO. After retiring at the Fire Dept in 1989, he worked at the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority in Glenwood Springs, CO. He retired from there in 2015. He was a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs. Survivors include his daughters; Carrie (Kevin Crawford) Thiering of Layton, Utah, Kimberly Jo (Wayne) Wulfekuhle of Asbury, IA; 5 Granddaughters, 3 Grandsons, 5 Great-granddaughters, 5 Great-grandsons; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jackie and Michael Squires of Eldridge, IA.. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Kelly Ann Figueroa; grandson, Joseph Zachary Benda V. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Scott County Humane Society or Clarissa C.
