Roland’s Obituary Mr. Roland “Rolly” Haight died peacefully on June 19, 2019 in Portland, Maine at the age of 78. Roland is survived by his wife Carole; children, David Haight and his wife Laura (Towne) Haight of Durham, NH; Bethany (Haight) Cunningham and her husband Tige Cunningham of Scarborough, ME; grandchildren, Emily Haight, Anna Haight, Sean Cunningham, and Bianca Cunningham; siblings, Robert Haight of Beacon, NY and Charles Haight of Leander, TX. Roland was born on January 8, 1941 in Cold Spring, NY to Eunice (Truesdell) Haight and R. Douglas Haight. He graduated from Beacon High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1959-1963. He married Carole Williams, the love of his life in 1965. He was employed by IBM and worked his way through a variety of positions until his retirement in 1993. His children remember him as a kind and patient father who was always up for a good laugh or story about his childhood and Navy adventures. He always encouraged them to pursue their dreams. Roland was a master at fixing the seemingly unfixable. He loved horses and loved to go fishing with his friends and his grandson. He thoroughly enjoyed every one of his grandchildren’s special events and he cherished each moment shared with his wife. He was a generous and loving man who was always willing to help someone in need. A celebration of life is being scheduled for a later date and time.
