Rogelio Ardena “Roger” “Kuya GiGi” Dones of Albee Twp., age 66, passed away early Wednesday morning, June 19, 2019, at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw. He was born in Cavite City, Philippines on June 17, 1953, the son of the late Conrado and Maria (Ardena) Dones. Roger was a proud and Honorably Discharged US Army Veteran, having served in Germany during the Vietnam Era. He was united in marriage to Janice M. Hedrich on September 29, 1979, in Chesaning. Roger was employed by Amigo Mobility International. He worked as a Service Technician for 25 years before retiring in 2018. He enjoyed cooking and was especially known for his egg rolls and shish kabobs. Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of over 39 years, Janice; their children, Christopher Dones, Russell and wife Dana Dones, and Kimiko Dones; grandchildren, Jaiden, Olivia, and Landyn Dones, and Allie Walters; many brothers and sisters; numerous nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. Honoring Roger’s wishes, cremation has taken place and his cremated remains will be taken back to the Philippines for final interment. A Gathering for Family and Friends will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2019, at Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning. Military Funeral Honors by Chesaning American Legion Post #212 will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Contributions given in memory of Roger may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
