Robert D. Slinkard, son of C. L. Slinkard and Elise (Dupon) Slinkard died June 2, 2019 at the IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington. He was a farm owner and a private investor, he graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1944, and then enlisted in the US Army Air Corps in 1944. He graduated from Indiana University School of Business in February of 1952 where his social fraternity was PHI DELTA THEATY, for a short time he was an investigator for the U.S. Civil Service Commission, traveling Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana for applications for civil service employment and for the U.S. Postal Service applications. Robert was a director of Knox County Coal Corporation; he had adopted his niece Sandra Jones and Howard Slinkard (Deceased). He is survived by friends and in particular two life long friends, Gary L. Ellis and Michelle (Shelly) Carrico, who have performed many things to make his life more comfortable. Last but not least, the Tuesday afternoon following Rotary, the Presbyterian Women’s Association who delivered food to him as it was well appreciated. There will be no public visitation. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Grandview Cemetery with Military Honors. Online condolences and memories can be shared at www.jenkinsfuneralhomes.com.
