Robert’s Obituary Robert Allen Rodriguez, Sr., age 62, passed away at his home surrounded by his family at his bedside. He left this earth fighting and lost the battle to lung cancer. Robert was born in Tachikawa, Japan Air Force Base on July 3, 1956, to Charles John Rodriguez and Geraldine Knoll Rodriguez. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronald K. Rodriguez, niece Crystal A. Shermer and son-in-law Donald Willis. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Brenda Flugrath Rodriguez; Son, Robert Allen Rodriguez, Jr. and his wife Katie, of Bulverde, Texas; daughters Penny Ann Willis of New Braunfels, Texas and Jaime Elaina Aguirre, of San Antonio, Texas. Surviving brothers and sisters: Charles John Rodriguez, Jr. of Taipei, Taiwan; Christina Marie Shermer, of Sacramento, California; Roy Wayne Rodriguez and wife Mary Jane, of Canyon Lake, Texas; and Juanita Rose Garcia and husband George, of Austin, Texas. Also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Reverend Hilmar Flugrath and wife Virginia; and brothers-in-law: John, David, Randy and Robert Flugrath. Grandchildren, Mario Tristan Aguirre, Brandon Aguirre, Meghan McKee, Jennifer Schwitz, Alyssa Rodriguez, Victoria Aguirre and Logan Rodriguez; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Robert’s love was his adoring wife and joy of going fishing to Port Aransas every year during the 4th of July week and celebrating his birthday with his family. He loved working with his hands and loved construction. He built their home and was very proud of it. In his early years, he worked for Mission Valley Mills for 26 years until they shut down in 2002. He also worked with his wife’s family business, Flugrath Construction as a water well driller and septic system and sprinkler system installer. He owned and operated his business known as Rob’s Air for 25 years in air conditioning and refrigeration. Lastly, he worked with Texas Old Town keeping the wedding hall facilities running smoothly. He felt Texas Old Town was his second family because they were all good family. Serving as pallbearers will be: Robert Allen Rodriguez, Jr., Roy Rodriguez, Jr., Ronnie Rodriguez, Tristan & Brendon Aguirre and Carlos Rodriguez.
