Richard E. “Dick” Wade, 77, of Beatrice, passed away Saturday morning, June 22, 2019 at Beatrice Health and Rehab. He was born on June 16, 1942 in Beatrice to Clarence and Gladys Wade. Dick graduated from Beatrice High School and then enlisted into the United States Army and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division serving from 1961 to 1963. Dick married Doris Manes and they later divorced. He married Jan Miller on April 9, 1993. Dick worked for Peterson Vice Grip, Aller and Pease, DeWitt Elevator and retired in 2004 from Standard Motor Products in Grapevine, Texas, Dick also bartended at the American Legion & VFW Clubs. Dick enjoyed Husker football, watching great westerns, traveling to Texas to visit family, and going to Wendover with friends. He will be remembered as a man that never met a stranger and cherished his many friends. Survivors include his wife, Jan of 26 years; children, Richard (Vicki Simon) Wade, Jr., Ron (Ann) Manes, Brad (Julie) Manes, Rhonda (Doug) Hardin, Laurie (Tony) Clower, Kevin Miller, Troy (Carol) Miller; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild with one on the way; special friends, Connie and Dave Spady; and Dick’s dog, Lucy. Dick is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Gladys Wade. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice with Jon Palmquist officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Nebraska Army National Honor Guard and Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the Beatrice American Legion during the service. Lunch will follow the service at the Veteran’s Club (7th & Dorsey) in Beatrice. A memorial has been established to the family for future designation. Cremation has taken place and there will be no viewing. A register book will be available for signatures at the funeral home on Sunday, June 30th, from noon until 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting friends and relatives from 5:00 P.M. until 6:30 P.M. www.foxfuneralhome.net Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice is in charge of the arrangements.
