Peggy Ray Mazyck June 05, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card MARION, SC PEGGY RAY MAZYCK Peggy Ray Mazyck, 85, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019 after an illness. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Richardson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00-12:00 at the funeral home Peggy was born in Barnwell County on December 15, 1933 and moved with her parents Jack and Irene Ray to Marion, SC when she was just a baby. She attended the Marion Grammar School, Jr. High School and High School, where she was very active in sports playing basketball and softball. She was also a cheerleader and was voted most athletic her senior year. She made many life-time friends. Among them Joan, Ling, Jimmie Lee, Wilmarie, Eliza, Anna and special one her sister, Jackie, and neighbors Mary, Jean, and sister-in-law, Ida Phillips. After graduation she worked at the Marion National Bank and later at Sear’s Credit Department in Charleston, SC where she met her husband. She retired form Marion School District One. Surviving are her sister, Jackie Dickert of Warrenville, SC; nephews John James Ray III and David Dickert; sister-in-law Helen Ray, and many cousins that she spent summers with riding horses, swimming, going to movies, and meeting boys. She is predeceased by her parents, Jack and Irene Ray; her husband, Creighton James Mazyck; her son, Mike Mazyck; and her brother, Johnny James Ray, Jr. She was a member of Marion Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. The family would like to thank Dr. James Suggs and the Marion Medical Group staff for taking care of her through the years.
