Pastor Jerry Keasling, age 68, of Erwin, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. A native of Erwin, Jerry is a son of the late Rev. James Drew and Peggy Runner Keasling. Jerry has been in ministry for 44 years and for the last 3 years, he has served as Pastor at Higgins Chapel Baptist Church, Flag Pond, TN. He enjoyed woodworking, photography, antiquing, and raising chickens. In addition to his parents, Pastor Keasling is preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Evely Keasling in 2010. Pastor Jerry Keasling leaves behind to cherish his memory: Wife of 8 years: Pansy H. Keasling Son: Jeremy Keasling; Daughters: Jessica McIntosh and her husband Evan; Jennifer Gardner and her husband Chris; Step Daughter: Andrea Belcher; Step Son: Dan Deel; Grandchildren: Hannah Keasling, Gavin Keasling, Eli McIntosh, Connor McIntosh, Luke McIntosh, Faith Ann Gardner, and Sophie Gardner; Step Grandchildren: Jered and Jordan Belcher; Sisters: Roxanna Rogers; Barbara Rogers Gray; Patsy Chandler Shuffler and her husband Larry; Janie Plemmons and her husband Eddie; Brother: John Keasling and his wife Cindy; Several nieces and nephews; And his beloved Fur Babies: Cookie and Pippi. The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Pastor Jerry Keasling in a Celebration of Life at 8:00 PM on Sunday, June 2, 2019 in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home with Rev. Ed McClain, Rev. Harold Lewis, Rev. Josh Cutshaw, Rev. Chad Hooks, and Rev. Tommy Melton officiating. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 4:00 PM on Sunday and will continue until service time at Valley Funeral Home. A graveside committal service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 3, 2019 at Evergreen Cemetery. Those attending the committal service will meet at Valley Funeral Home by 12:30 Monday to go in procession to the Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jeremy Keasling, Gavin Keasling, Eli McIntosh, Luke McIntosh, Connor McIntosh, Faith Ann Gardner, Drew Keasling, Ben Evely, and John Keasling. Honorary pallbearers will be Norman Edwards, Chris Gardner, Evan McIntosh, Floyd Edwards, Harry Corn, Sophie Gardner, Jordan Belcher, Jered Belcher, Jamie Rogers, Chris Rogers, Dustin Plemmons, Shannon Chandler, Bubba Evely, Thomas Evely, Rylan Dow, and James Bowman. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Higgins Chapel Baptist Church, 1096 Upper Higgins Creek Rd, Flag Pond, TN 37657.
