Nellie Mae Thomas “My Savior has prepared a place for me in Heaven. I left behind the woes of this earth and shall lay at them hem of his garment in peace” (click on the Tributes tab to leave online condolences, light a memory candle or to sign the online register bood) Mrs. Nellie Mae Thomas was born on November 20, 1927, in Baldwin County. She was one of five children born to the loving union of Sam Harris and Emma Green Harris. Nellie accepted Christ at an early age and devoted her life to living in the Lord. Having served previously as the president of the Usher Board and a church Secretary, Nellie actively served and worshipped with the Tate Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Little River, AL. She met and married George Thomas, Sr. There loving union brought about the birth, life and love of seven children. Nellie Mae Thomas was a kind and loving woman of God. She was devoted to her children and they were everything to her heart. She unselfishly gave of herself, caring for others whenever she saw the need. She taught school, for a short while, at the first school in Little River. She went on to become a CNA and worked at the North Baldwin Hospital for many years. On June 16, 2019, the Lord saw that her time here on earth should end. He whispered, “come and take your rest” and she answered His call. She was preceded in death, by her husband and five children: Henry, George Jr., Dicinia, Randy, and Sheena. She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons: Marvin (Ruth) Thomas of Bay Minette, AL and Shedrick (Chris) Thomas of Little River, AL; thirteen grandchildren: Kenneth, Marvin, Michael, Veronica, Marsha, Andrew, Nicholas, Nikkia, Adrian, Wendy, Stacey, Marquita, and Shedrick II; a host of nieces, nephews other loved relatives and many friends.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Nellie Mae Thomas November 20 1927 June 16 2019 (age 91).
