Mr. Melvin Rudolph Crafford, 80, of Winston-Salem peacefully went to be with his heavenly father lord and savior Jesus Christ on June 14, 2019. Melvin was born in Forsyth County to the late Edmond Francis Crafford and Mattie Brewer Crafford on November 28, 1938. He graduated in 1957 from Hanes High School, he devoted his life to Christ as a teenager and was a faithful servant throughout his life. Melvin was married on July 12, 1959 to his loving, devoted and faithful wife Nancy Crafford (60 Years this July). He worked and retired from Reynolds Tobacco Company after 32 ½ years of service in the #91 machine shop. Melvin was a longtime member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing solos in church regularly, he also was a Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, and Deacon at Goldfloss Baptist Chapel. He loved his lord, family, friends and fishing. He had a unique sense of humor about him and everyone who knew him loved him. He was a precious and incredible man, who will be greatly missed. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by a grandson, Aaron; three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife Nancy of the home; three children, Kathleen (Bruce) Overby, Don Graylon Crafford (fiancée’ Kathy), and Timothy Wayne Crafford; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; four nephews and extended church family. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel with the Rev. David Harman officiating. Committal will follow at Woodland Cemetery.
