Mrs. Mary Ellen Saunders Young Aiken, SC— A celebration of life service for Mrs. Mary Ellen Saunders Young, age 74 will be held 2:00 pm Monday June 17, 2019 at Aiken First Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Brewer officiating. Interment will be private. Mrs. Young entered into rest Saturday June 8, 2019 at Pepper Hill Nursing Facility, Aiken. Mrs. Young was born in Wilmington, NC, and had made Aiken her home since 2017. She was the wife of 23 years to the late Mr. Charles Madison Young, and a daughter of the late Mr. Henry Franklin Saunders, Sr. and the late Mrs. Alice Moore Saunders. Mrs. Young was a 1968 graduate of Mars Hill College, Mars Hill, NC with a BA in Elementary Education. She taught school in the McDowell County, NC public school system for 14 years. Mrs. Young was a member of the First Baptist Church of Aiken where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class. She enjoyed singing, crocheting, and sewing. Survivors include one daughter, Sarah Lynn Young, Aiken; one sister, Peggy Musselwhite, Raleigh, NC, one brother, Cleve Saunders, Wilmington, NC, one grandchild, Patrick Truman Young,-Grady, Aiken. She was predeceased by a son, Charles Steven Young, one brother, Henry Franklin Saunders, Jr. The family has suggested that memorials be made to the ALS Association South Carolina Chapter, Parklane Centre, 7499 Parklane Road, Suite 144, Columbia, SC 29223.
