Dateline: Monroe, NC Beloved mother, Madeline “Carol” Prather Slifer, 79, of Monroe, NC has gone to be with the Lord on June 15, 2019. Carol was one of the youngest of 16 children of the late Thomas Jefferson Prather and Lola Mae Black Prather. Carol is survived by her son Robert (Sandra) of Monroe and daughter Sandra (Dave) of Rock Hill; her grandchildren, David Mauldwin III, Lee Davidson (Austin), Alex Mayo (Justin), Amanda Huffman (Jason), Michael Slifer (Elizabeth); and great-grandchildren, Lily Carrion, Wade Mayo, Hailey Davidson and Nicole and Reagan Huffman. The family wishes to thank the many friends and family from Church of the Redeemer and caregivers at Brookdale Monroe Square for their love and support over the past years. Her mind may have faded but her love of family and friends never wavered. A service to celebrate Ms. Carol’s life will be held at 11: 00 AM on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Church of the Redeemer at 3720 Wesley Chapel Stouts Rd. Indian Trail, NC 28079. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM. She will be laid to rest following the service in the Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Church of the Redeemer, Building Fund, P.O. Box 3365, Monroe, NC 28111.
