Lucille Jones Stephenson September 21, 1924 – June 11, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Memorial Donation Lucille Jones Stephenson, 94, of White Hall, passed away on June 11, 2019. She was born on September 21, 1924, at Mechums River, in Albemarle County, to the late Nathanial Lawson Jones and Ida Sandridge Jones. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 68 years, Augustus Tyler Stephenson, III. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth (Beth) Stephenson Easter and her husband Barry Neal Easter, of White Hall, Susan Stephenson Mahone and her husband, William Stephen (Steve) Mahone, of Earlysville, and her grandson, Tyler Alexander Mahone, of Earlysville. Lucille graduated from Crozet High School in 1941. She was a life-long member of Mountain Plain Baptist Church in Mechums River, serving as assistant church treasurer and treasurer of the building fund for many years. She was employed by Omohundro Electric Company as a part-time secretary/bookkeeper for more than 30 years and also kept the books of the Albemarle Home Mutual Fire Insurance Company at home for a long period of time. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, dining, and attending sporting events with her family, especially treasuring times spent with her beloved grandson, Tyler. Unwavering in her love and devotion, she generously gave of her time and talents to her church and her family throughout her life. Survivors also include her nieces, Kathryn K. Spencer and Ann K. Shipp and her husband, William R. Shipp; her nephew, David L. Sandridge and his wife, Ann B. Sandridge, and their daughters, Lauren S. Smith and Aynsley S. Gresko. She is survived by numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Hallie J. Brooks, Jennie J. Hanna, Grace K. Schweiger, and Mary J. Bowen; her brother, T. Allen Jones; her brothers-in-law, William W. Stephenson, Marshall O. Gill, and Charles Gill; and her sisters-in-law, Virginia S. Sandridge, Mildred S. Keister, Isabelle G. Grubb, and Marie G. Clarke. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Hill and Wood Funeral Home in Charlottesville. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Noon at Mountain Plain Baptist Church in Mechums River. Interment will follow at Mountain Plain Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mountain Plain Cemetery Association, in care of Margaret Willis, 5756 Apple Grove Lane, Crozet, Virginia 22932.
