Lolida Lee Melton (née Gowen) passed away peacefully in Charleston, SC on 6/23/19 at the age of 79. Lolida Lee Melton is survived by her husband Glenn Edward Melton of Summerville; her Children Shirley Melton, Nancy Shafer, Sharon Fincher, Linda & James Verona of Summerville; her 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild. Lolida Lee Gowen was born on 12/20/1939 in Nitro, West Virginia to Thomas & Martha Gowen. Lolida Lee Gowen married Glenn Edward Melton, her lifelong sweetheart in 1960. Over 11 years, the couple welcomed 4 children into their home. Her children remember her as a kind, gentle, patient and driven mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals. A Viewing is scheduled for 6/27/19 from 6 to 8 pm at James A. Dyal funeral home in Summerville, with the funeral service on 6/28/19 at 11am at Dorchester Memorial Gardens in Summerville.
