LeRoy Paulen November 27, 1934 – June 17, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Leroy Erwin Paulen age 84 of Howard city passed a way on June 17 at his residence. He was born November 27, 1934 in Pierson Michigan to Leroy and Ruth Paulen. He was a lifelong member of the Heritage United Methodist church in Pierson, Michigan and served as a trustee over the years, and was a willing worker in church projects. Leroy graduated from Howard city high school in 1953 and married Vicky Denton in 1956. Together they raised four wonderful children Jeffrey LeRoy, Elizabeth Anne, Suzanne Marie and Andrew Donald. Leroy’s working years began with various jobs one of the most memorable was working for his father in law Don Denton in the heating and plumbing industry. He soon advance to being a heavy equipment operator and his first job was working on the Kent county airport. This job required work away from home which was hard on the growing family. Due to his strong family values a decision was made to find work closer to home so he accepted a job in maintenance at White consolidated. He worked here for many years while farming 500 acres of land. In 1977 he purchased a dairy farm from his uncle and finally was able to realize his dream of farming full-time. Leroy worked on this farm in some capacity to the very end. It was his life. He believed and lived by these words “ Man’s harvest in life, depends entirely upon what he sows. “ Today Paulen Farms Inc. is managed by sons Jeffrey Paulen, Andrew Paulen and grandson Alexander Paulen and almost like a son David Kerslake. He was preceded in death by his sisters and his parents. Surviving are his wife Vicky and his four children ; Jeffrey and Kari Paulen, Elizabeth and Keith Kalish , Suzanne and Kirk Wrigley and Andrew and Carrie Paulen. His grandchildren Amber and SiMon Griffey, Justin and Christine Paulen, Alexander and Katie Paulen, Liz Charlate and Danielle Hansing, Evan and Kendal Kalish, And McKenzie, Madelyn, and Eli Paulen; Great grandchildren Logan and Greyson Paulen. Memorial services will be held On Saturday, June 22 at 4 PM at the Heritage United Methodist church 19931 Kendaville Road Pierson , MI 49339.
