Leora’s Obituary Leora Ella DuHoux Patten, 89, 22 January 1930-22 June 2019 Lee passed peacefully in her sleep on 22 June 2019 in her home in Blackfoot, Idaho. Leora was born 22 January 1930 to John and Myrtle Rhyne DuHoux. She was the middle of five children. She had a sweet tooth from when she was a little girl, to the very end. Her mother raised the family as a single mom. They traipsed from Minnesota to Washington state, and back in her youth. From her mother she learned frugality, hard work, and how to be a tidy housekeeper. She married Karleton “Mac” McCutchen in 1950. Together they raised their three daughters, Debra, Lea, and Gabrielle. They later divorced. She helped to raise a number of her grandchildren, and formed special bonds with them through that care. She successfully managed her own business for years with her Use It Again shop and then Lee’s Hobby Shop and Laundromat in Soda Springs. Many of her grandkids have fond memories of time spent working with Grandma and playing there too. 15 April 1995 she married Sidney Patten. They lived in Utah, Nevada, and finally Idaho. She loved that he took her dancing and would sing to her while he played his guitar. She was a woman of many talents. She loved to make crazy quilts, cathedral quilts, and tie quilts. She could sew and made clothing for her daughters as they grew, as well as things for her grandchildren. She dabbled in oil paintings, and so many other crafts. Her favorite thing, was of course buttons. Button crafts, collecting of buttons, and obtaining knowledge about a variety of buttons. She was a button connoisseur. She was proud of her membership in the National Button Association. She enjoyed making treats, But any treats were made with healthy ingredients. She loved to share healthy eating tips with her family, even when we didn’t listen. She loved having visitors and cooking for them. She had a heart of gold and loved deeply, even when she would point out weight gained or what she perceived as a bad hair cut. She loved a bargain, and adored yard sales. It was her favorite past time until she could no longer physically go. She was fond of the fair. She enjoyed the derbies. She loved viewing the exhibits, but especially entering antiques in them. She collected many prize ribbons over the years. Her favorite fair food was a Tiger’s Ear. She looked forward to it yearly, and we will feel her loss as we attend without her in the future. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Doris Heacock, Johnny DuHoux, and Eddie DuHoux and two grandchildren, Phillip Thayer and Jillene Seaman. She is survived by her loving husband, Sid, and three daughters, Debra DuHoux, (Nancy Bento) Lea (Kent) Harding and Gabbi (Doug) Ehrmantrout, twelve grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Elaine (Arlan) Nelson of Minnesota, and many nieces and nephews. She will be so missed. But will live on in countless photographs, crafts and items she shared with us, and absolutely endless memories. How fortunate we were to have her for her 89 years.
