Juanita’s Obituary Juanita Lane Lacy (93) was born on September 7, 1925 in Waskom, Texas to the parentage of Percy and Rachel Tanner Lane. She was the third of ten children. She was raised in Waskom, Texas. She received her education from Mount Zion School. She united with the Mount Zion Baptist Church, at an early where she worked faithfully as an usher until she later united with the Old Border Baptist Church. She served as Mother of the Old Border Baptist Church until her demise. She was preceded in death by her husband: Webb Lacy; one son, Velmon Garden; three brothers: Percy Lane, L. C. Lane, and Frank Lane (Leonteen); five sisters, Charlie Mae Lane, Alberta Lane Spillman, Roberta Gordon (Orester), Jennie V. Drayden and Ada B. Fuller. Our Mother leaves memories to be cherished by her: Children: Dessie Higgs, Carrie Moore, Dilworth Gordon, Lee Ardis Gordon, Francis Hicks, Mary Louise Johnson (Cordell); James Gordon (Lois) all of Waskom, Texas; Larry Lane of Beaumont, Texas; Charles Gordon (Alishia) of Killeen, Texas; Brenda Anderson (Hayward) of Anderson, South Carolina; Sharon Gordon of Mustang, Oklahoma and Alberta Lane of Grand Prairie, Texas. She was loved and cherished by 36 Grandchildren, 41 Great Grand Children; and 16 Great, Great Grand Children; Sisters: Oleather Mitchell, Fort Worth, Texas and Margret Tyson, Shreveport, Louisiana and sister in Love Frankie B. Lane, Flint, Michigan and host of nieces, nephews and special friends. Our mother was strong and bodacious, always quick with a comeback. At the age of 93 you could still hear her testify that “GOD is good all the time, and all the time GOD is good”. She adored being surrounded by family, love ones and friends. She was a devoted and proud homemaker and will leave many to cherish her wisdom of homemaking and family. She was an OG of Old School, she would threaten to beat you down in a minute and meant it. Whatever she grabbed was what she used. Yes, up to age of 85 you would find her working in her garden (with her walker). It’s no coincidence that she found comfort in quilting and gardening; two hobbies that required an abundance of care and patients. She took a great deal of pride in her gardening and was even more proud of her bountiful harvest. She loved gardening but she loved most, sharing her harvest with others. Mother would often encourage her kids and grandkids to go to school and make something out of themselves. ~We Love You Mom Always Read More
