Dorothy Juanita “Nita” Barnett, age 81, passed away Sunday morning, June 23, 2019, at home in Booneville. She was born in Booneville on August 12, 1937, to Van Presley Tice and Cortez Storey Tice. She was a cosmetologist for many years and worked as a nurse’s aide. She also was co-owner of Quick Foods, Inc. and worked along her husband, Leland, in the family business, Barnett’s Used Cars. She enjoyed sewing, reading, fishing, camping, cooking, hosting parties, and spending time with family and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at 1:00 PM at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Trimble and Ray Morton officiating. Visitation will be at 11:00 AM until service time. Burial will be in Liberty Memorial Gardens. Booneville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Leland Barnett; daughter, Vanessa Qualls (Jimmy) of Corinth; brother, Larry Tice (Ginger) of Biggersville; sisters, Bobbie Nell Sanders and Sally McLemore (Dan) all of Corinth; grandchildren, Kandie Nunley of Tishomingo, Priscilla Pharr of Booneville, Skye Quillen of Corinth, Lee Barnett of Tishomingo, Hannah Smith and Nick Qualls both of Corinth; and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Donna Melafronte and Debbie Barnett; a son, Frankie Barnett; two grandsons, Chris James and Brad James; and a brother, Robert Tice.
