Joyce Carol Secrease, 85 years of Columbia, IL, passed away on June 15, 2019 at Mercy Hospital South, St. Louis, MO. She was born September 12, 1933, in St. Louis, MO. She was married to the late George Secrease. He passed away May 7, 1997. Joyce had been employed as the office manager for Airtherm, St. Louis, MO. She and her husband had also operated an alarm/security company for many years and she was a longtime resident of Columbia, IL, being one of the first residents to build a contemporary ranch home on Mule road. She was also instrumental in securing county water service into her residential area. She will always be remembered for: Her feistiness, which allowed her to live by herself for the last 21 years; Her love of decorating for each season of the year, especially Christmas (beautiful out and inside displays); working outside and taking care of her flower beds, shrubs and trees; She was an avid longtime donor to many charities and a significant contributor to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville; Her pride of being a member of the local sheriff’s department and her love of her Belgian Shepard named Gretchen. Surviving are her nephews, Michael Secrease, Randy (Michelle) Clippard, and Charles Scott Clippard; nieces, Mary Secrease, Janet Gilda and Nancy Rallo; brother-In-law, Earl Buescher, Jr.; longtime family friend; Chris Neumann; cousin, Tom Hanratty; along with other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by parents, William and Lorraine, nee White, Haverkost; sisters, Audrey Buescher, and Fern Helge; nephew, Mark Secrease. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 25, 2019, 10:00 am – 11:00 am, at Lawlor Funeral Home, Columbia, IL. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday June 25, 2019, 11:00 am, at the funeral home, with Fr. Carl Scherrer officiating. Interment will follow in the Bellerive Gardens Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
