Jerry Donald Holmes, 79, of Fairmount, GA died Friday, June 21, 2019 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. He was born in Ranger on June 20, 1940, son of the late Jerry Pendley Holmes and the late Willie Mae Watkins Banks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first cousin and close friend, Gail Squires. Jerry was a graduate of Fairmount High School. He was a veteran, serving his country in the US Army. He enjoyed attending car shows and auctions, and Sonoraville High School athletic events. Survivors include his sisters and brothers-in-law, Beth and Lynn Hall of Menlo, GA, Diane and Bob Springfield of Calhoun, Esther and Tommy Ball of Monroe, and Brenda Holmes of Menlo; and first cousins, Eddie Watkins, Louie Watkins, Sammy Watkins, Denny Watkins, Michael Holmes, Alan Holmes, and Polly Jones. Services to honor the life of Jerry Donald Holmes will be held Sunday, June 23rd at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Music will be arranged by Sammy Watkins. Burial will follow in Campbell Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Sammy Watkins, Eddie Watkins, Tommy Ball, James Arthur Ball, Lynn Hall, and Dale Hales. Honorary pallbearers are Daniel Cochran, James Haynes, and members of the American Classic Car Club. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, from 1:00 PM until the service hour.
