Jerry Strickland, 84, of Fort Meade, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019. He was born in Jacksonville, Fl, on March 5, 1935. He was a resident of Fort Meade for 54 years coming from Wauchula, Florida. Jerry was a member of First Baptist Church Fort Meade and was a teacher and athletic director for Fort Meade high School. He also served in the Army National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents Hudson Strickland and Myrtie Strickland. Survivors include his loving wife Merilyn Strickland of Fort Meade, Fl, His sons Miles Strickland (Tara) of Lakeland, Fl, Kyle Strickland (Kim) of Fort Meade, Fl, and John Davis Jr. (Christy) of Riverview, Fl. A daughter Martha Durrance (Bobby) of Lake Wales, FL and a brother Jack Strickland of Wauchula, Fl. His grandchildren Kayla Selph, Kyle Strickland Jr, Emily Strickland, Chloe Strickland, Andrew Strickland, Emory Davis, Robert Davis, Kate Durrance, Lizzie Durrnace and Mary Grace Durrance and four great grandchildren. A Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Fort Meade on Monday, June 10, 2019 from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Fort Meade on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 4:00 PM with Rev. Kenny Slay officiating. Interment will take place in the Bowling Green Cemetery.
