James Phillip Howington, age 82, of Cameron, NC, died Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Peak Resources Assisted Living Center in Carthage. He was born in Harnett County, NC on February 28, 1937 to the late John Tilden Howington and Bella Allen Howington. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Tommy Howington and sister Annie Mae Langdon. Mr. Howington worked many years for Roberts Company and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church serving as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was an avid golfer, bass guitarist and loved to travel. He is survived by his wife Janell Autry Howington; daughters Andrea Snyder and husband Bill of Greensboro, Anita Wilson of Aberdeen, Holly Howington of Reidsville; sister Glenda Taylor of Mamers; grandchildren Joshua Snyder, Andrew Snyder, Megan Martin and husband William, Rob Fields; and great-grandson Levi Martin. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 16th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church. The funeral service will be Monday, June 17th at 4:00 PM at the church with Rev. Ray Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family wants to thank Liberty Hospice of Southern Pines for their kind and compassionate care.
