James H. Smith, Jr., 60, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 15, 2019. Jim was born in Greene, NY, on October 19, 1958, the only child of James H. Smith, Sr. and Marie Smith. A longtime resident of the area, he had worked on the Oros Farm for several years and after their retirement, at the Riverside Dairy. He enjoyed the pony pulls and was a member of the local pony pulling association. He is survived by his son, Richard Smith, of Cortland; his former wife, Lori Monroe of Cincinnatus; and the girls who he considered to be like daughters, Ashley Arounsavath, Victoria Sutton, and Autumn Parkhurst. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Ashley Smith, in 1992. In keeping with the wishes of the family, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date.
