James Dobias March 06, 1926 – June 02, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation James Dobias was born August 7, 1926 in Atkinson, Nebraska to James and Elsie (Kliment) Dobias. He was the oldest child. He attended country school a half mile from home at District 79 through the 8th grade and then stayed home to help his dad with the farming. James was a World War II veteran serving from March 8, 1945 to December 24, 1946. He returned to the family farm once again to help his dad after his military service. On June 11, 1962 James married the love of his life Agnes Mae Malena. James moved to his bride’s ranch southeast of Atkinson. Together the couple ranched with Agnes’ mother and his brother-in-law Franklin Malena. James and Agnes purchased Franklin’s half of the ranch when Franklin married and moved to South Dakota. James and Agnes spent their life time on the ranch working side by side for the next 56 years. He was very proud of the Hereford cattle they raised. James and Agnes retired in 2013 but continued to live on the ranch and James’ niece Natalie and her husband Jerry Prewitt managed the ranch for them. They were always very kind to James and took care of all the ranching. James liked fishing, duck hunting, and Sunday drives around the countryside. He was a good mechanic working on his own machinery. He was especially proud of his International tractors. James is survived by his wife Agnes Mae Dobias of Amelia; Special Niece Natalie Prewitt and her husband Jerry of Atkinson; brother-in-law Franklin Malena of O’Neill; brothers Joe Dobias and his wife Bonnie of Papillion and Jerry Dobias and his wife Ann of Hollister, MI; a sister Marjorie Ferris and her husband George of Atkinson; Sisters-in-law Bernice Dobias of Creighton, NE and Ruby Dobias of Atkinson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and 2 brothers Norbert and Raymond.
