Ivette’s Obituary Ivette Cordero Medina of New Britain, CT passed away peacefully at UConn Medical Center on June 13, 2019, after a courageous battle with peritoneal cancer. She was surrounded by her loving husband, sons and other loved ones at her time of passing. Ivette was born in Bronx, NY on February 17, 1963 to parents Heriberto and Ines Cordero. At the age of 3, her family moved to New Britain, CT where she resided for the remainder of her life. Ivette graduated from New Britain High School and began working for the Connecticut State Treasury Department shortly after. She retired in 2016, after serving a 33 year tenure. In 1990, Ivette met the love of her life, husband Frank Medina. Together for 29 amazing years, the two raised four beautiful sons: Frank Jr., Dominique, Geovanni and Izaiah. Ivette loved to spend time with her husband and children. She and Frank were inseparable. He remained vigilantly by her side throughout her entire cancer journey. Together they enjoyed listening to music, dancing, traveling and keeping up with their son’s various athletic activities. She was an amazing, generous and loving wife and mother. Ivette had an infectious smile and vibrant personality. She made friends easily and cherished each relationship. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Ivette liked to shop, cook, work out and practice her faith in God. She was an incredible person whose life will be forever celebrated by all whose hearts she touched. Ivette is survived by her husband Frank Medina and their sons Frank Medina Jr. and his wife Cynthia, Dominique Medina, Geovanni Medina and Izaiah Medina. She also leaves behind her parents Heriberto and Ines Cordero; mother and father-in-law Rufino and Josefina Medina; brothers Heriberto Cordero Jr. and his wife Valerie, Damian Cordero and his wife Carmen, Antonio Cordero and Edwin Cordero; twin sister Ivonne Febo and her husband George, sister Isabel Cordero and her partner Jose Nazario; brothers-in-law Rufino Medina Jr. and his wife Wanda, Jaime Medina, Tony Medina and his wife Gina; sisters-in-law MaryAnne Shandra and her husband Fred, MillyJo Medina; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Brewer, her amazing staff of physicians and nurses and the UConn Medical Center Oncology Department for their tireless care and support. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Mary Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are on Tuesday from 5-8 PM.
